There are four 'Teaching English as a Foreign Language'
openings each year for native speakers of English at Tianjin
University of Technology, Tianjin, P. R. China.
Preferences:
1. Aged between 25 and 65.
2. With a degree of BA, BED, MA, MED. or its equivalent.
3. With 2-3 years teaching Experience.
4. Without strong local accent.
Terms and Conditions:
1. Contract begins on 1st September and ends on 20th July
of each year.
2. Teach 16 hours per week to adult students of between
18 and 24 years old who have learnt basic English but need
to improve their proficiency.
3. A single trip or a return trip international economic
class airfare depending on qualification.
4. Monthly salary ranging from 1,800-3,000 RMB yuan depending
on qualification
5. One month paid winter vacation (Chinese Lunar New Year)
plus vacation allowance of 2000 yuan.
6. A school-paid furnished apartment of a bedroom and bathroom.
7. School will pay the local telephone bill and the cost
of electricity, gas and water.
Description of the Tianjin City and the University :
Tianjin is an international seaport metropolis, one of the
four municipalities of China and one among China's cities
first open to the outside world. Tianjin has a superior
geographical location and well-developed transportation
indicated by the basic formation of a sea-land-and air network.
Tianjin is one of the scientific and technical force intensive
areas in China. Tianjin has 26 institutions of higher education.
Tianjin, which is one of the areas in China that have the
best public security, is one of the top 10 famous cities
of China rich in culture and historical heritage. The climate
is with four distinct seasons, featuring a pleasant spring
and autumn, a cold winter lowest temperature being -12 degrees
Celsius) and a hot summer (highest temperature being 38
degree Celsius).
Tianjin University of Technology (TUT) is located in one
of the four municipalities in China. Approved by the State
Council, the university was formally established on July
11, 1981. Tianjin University of Technology, which has, since
become one of the key universities under the municipal government,
offers classes in engineering, technology, management and
the arts. The university has so far trained 21,000 undergraduates.
The whole university covers an area of 51.5 hectares, and
the construction area is 240,000 square meters. The university
has 1563 faculty member and other personnel, among whom
are 67 professors and 319 associate professors.
The university, at present, has 9018 students, among whom
are 5254 regular undergraduates and postgraduates, 2886
two-year undergraduates and 878 adult students. The university
has 10 departments, 21 specialties and several research
centers.
The university has established the inter-university relationships
with higher education institutions in the countries and
regions of the U. S., Canada, France, Japan, Russia, Germany,
Singapore, Holland, Korea and Taiwan. Every year, scholars
and professors from these countries are invited to give
lecture in the university. At present, there are about a
hundred international students majoring in the Chinese language
and culture studying at the Center of International Education
of the university.
