The College of Science has a total of 84 faculty members, including 10 full professors and 1 visiting professor, from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Faculty members undertake teaching duties in Mathematics, Physics and Physics experiments for undergraduate and graduate students as well as engage in research which includes various national science projects. The college’s Physics Lab is held as one of the finest in Tianjin. The Photoelectronical Display Materials and Devices Lab is a major lab with Material Physics and Chemistry a major discipline in Tianjin.

The College puts emphasize on theory, learning and engineering practice. The 3000sq.m.Open Lab, an important innovation of the College, is available for students who are interested in doing experimental research. The College puts special emphasis on training the creative spirit for students, encouraging them to participate in research work while laying a solid foundation of mathematics and physics, especially in the area of information science. After graduation, students often work in the field of teaching, scientific research and development as well as management. The school ha also set up many student training centers in industry, such as Tianjin Zhonghuan Sanjin Co.,Ltd and Tianjin Institute of Laser Technology.
